8 Tracks: Of ‘British Mom’s & Canadian Dads’ With Unterman
Often it is the organic nature of an imprint which helps determine its aesthetic and due course – in the case of Unterman, the Israel based label has evolved under the guidance of history and longstanding practise. Originating as a podcast series and based in Tel Aviv the label was founded by Josef Lamion and art director Sara Lamion – it draws upon inspiration from a sensitively told family story about the Laimon brother and sister’s ancestors: Rabbi Isser Yehuda Unterman, former Chief Rabbi of Israel and his son, Mordechai Unterman, Rabbi of London’s Marble Arch Synagogue.
As such there is a focus on religious fundamentalism, style, design, ethics, art and culture. No stone left unturned.
We invited the label boss to guide us through eight tracks.

“Jack in the box are one of my favorite acts from tel-aviv. They use the Hebrew language in a completely different way than others. This song is definitely worth your while.”
