8 Tracks: Of Spellbinding Live Performances With The Revenge

For over two decades Graeme Clark has been actively producing and making wholeheartedly warm, enticing dance and electronic music which has been championed far and wide. The Scottish producer has recently released his second full length album as The Revenge however his output has been vast across a twenty three year period having released music as part of the duo 6th Borough Project, as OTherlover and as part of countless collaborations with the likes of OOFT!, Harri and more.

From a musical perspective he has drawn upon the influence of a sprawling array of musical genres and style – sampling has played a prominent part of his musical progression and often the likes of funk, soul, disco, rock and beyond have helped inspire him. 

Following the recent release of “When The Thrill Comes” and ahead of an appearance at Panoramabar on the 30th of June we invited him to dig deep in eight.

    Saw this on TV when I was a kid and always stuck in my mind for what a mind-bending version it was. He must only be about 18 years old. Plenty of interesting haircuts in the crowd too.

    Classic performance from legendary booze-hound John Martyn. Probably my favourite track of his although hard to pick one to be honest. A tender performance of one of my all time favourite pieces of music.

  • Slim Gaillard - Dunkin Bagel (Live)

    Such a dude with a unique perspective in jazz. Lyrics are off the chain … must have been good skunk. Worth checking his documentary ‘A Traveller’s Tale’ online too … amazing life.

  • Billy Cobham & George Duke - Stratus (Live)

    The funk right here. Was mildly obsessed with Billy Cobham as a kid as my mum had the ‘Spectrum’ album and I’d heard nothing like it. Am a big fan of George Duke too so this is a double-whammy here.

    Prefab Sprout’s songs were unlike any others due to Paddy McAloon’s unique writing style. Anthemic and emotional all at once. This is their classic track ‘Bonny’.

    Classic end-of-nighter here guaranteed to bring tears to grown men’s eyes. Unbelievable to think of how tight they were as a band … and those songs are some of the greatest ever written.

    Barefoot, guitar on her back, singing her heart out. Stunning.
