Influences: Steve Cobby
There can sometimes be debate as to the relevance of certain influences upon a particular artist. Often the lineage is the same, the selections are the same and the back story is the same. However, in the case of Steve Cobby there is nothing but originality, heritage and sincerity. A man with a righteous set of principles, an aspirational figure with a lifetime of experience in the music industry and all of it's manic stupidity. You wouldn't catch him asking for a sauna is all we have to say. Next month marks the release of a new LP from the man himself, it follows his recent pro Corbyn campaigning and various collaborations.
We invited him to cite some of the influences which have helped to inspire his career to date as he selects sketches, tracks and more. A fine array of material which helps to define the ideology behind the man.
"Hemidemisemiquaver" will be out on the 27th October next month. Buy it HERE.
Becoming a Dad – The biggest shift in perception I’ve experienced in my life. The penny dropped that everything else is a distraction and we’re here solely to pass on our DNA. I sensed it almost as soon as I cut Herbie’s umbilical cord. Becoming a parent made me a better man and a lot less self centred. Blessed I am with the fam I have. ..Everyone thought this was in praise of weed but it’s 100% dedicated to my first born. Thats him gurgling and laughing in the tune.
