8 Tracks: A Night Time Boat Ride With Man Duo

Originating from Helsinki Man Duo are experiencing what has been described as a "second coming" of sorts.

The duo made up of Jaakko Eino Kalevi and Sami Toroi first released their debut album under an alternate alias back in 2012. Now some five years they have revitalised their collaborative efforts in the form of a new album titled "Orbit". The album is an assortment of abstract pop with international influences and shimmering, dream esque hypnotism.

We caught up with the duo who contribute as part of our eight tracks series citing music for the water at night. See below:

Jaakko: I heard that this is the perfect song for a long drive from New Jersey to Maine (about 7-8 hours). Also, it has the perfect comment in YouTube: “How come all these 80s vocalists sound like they’re sitting naked on top of an upside-down bar stool?”

Jaakko: I bought this record from a flea market in Tallinn just on the strength of its cover and it turned out to be a great record. Mikhail Chekalin is a very interesting Russian experimental-music artist.
05 Mika Vainio - Kasvien Vari (Colour Of Plants) [Touch]

Sami: A track from he album ‘In the Land of the Blind One-eyed is King’, which is one of the best records by Mika Vainio.
Rene Hell - Chamber Force

Sami: The opening track from the excellent album ‘The Terminal Symphony’. He’s definitely one of the most interesting modern artists around.
Lung Dart - Healthy Functional Tissue

Sami: A beautiful loop. You could just listen to this forever.
Steve Kuhn - Time To Go

Jaakko: Steve Kuhn is an American jazz pianist. This is a beautiful song and it has the best lyrics.
Giusy Dej - Walking In The Night

Jaakko: A total merciless hit! A very good party track with a heart-breaking melody.
