8 Tracks: To Create A Pattern With Sofatalk
Originating from Italy, Sofatalk is a one man project which revolves around house, disco, dub and experimental funk.
Over the past two years he has been steadily building a profile across an array of labels which include the likes of Banofee Pies, Loveless and Ambassador's Reception. His sound is inspired by a diverse assortment of musical tastes which is very much made clear by the following selections which includes early sounds from Herbie Hancock, Billy Cobham and many more.
This month will see Sofatalk release on a split EP with K15 for Anma Records.

I love the whole album by Hancock, and this piece in particular, for its experimental and avant-garde quality. The album hardly fits into any category, although in some respects it is close to the concrete-avant-garde experiments of the 1960s, the early Kraut experiments, or the electric period of Miles Davis himself. It was fundamental in my training process.

Billy Cobham - SpectrumI discovered this album at a friend’s house, during my childhood. It belonged to of his elder brother’s record collection . I was literally struck by the rhythmic section. Since then I have never stopped listening to it. A milestone!

Suns Of Arqa - Ananta Snake DanceBought on a street market some time ago. This single from 1982 (Virgin Records) is an explosion of sound contamination, in particular “Ananta Snake Dance” from Suns of Arqa gives me positive energy every time I hear it. Acoustic Letfield / Dub with Delayed Flutes and trumpets and strings improvisations. What a journey!`

Exotica Dance Club is a very special track, a kind of sound that resembles Japanese funk from the 80s. Dream atmosphere, pads, lo-fi leads and DX7 piano chords!
