Award Winning Composer Johann Johannson Announces Release Of First Album In 6 Years

Golden Globe Winner, Icelandic composer Johann Johannson has announced his release of his first solo album, ‘Orphee’, accompanied by video and tour, his first in six years, on the 16th September 2016. 

Johann, has become a figurehead for new dynamic composers, following his Oscar Nomination and Golden Globe award for the best film score, in James Marsh, ‘The Theory of Everything’. The artist's new album ‘Orphee’ is an ambitious score of orchestral and vocal writing with clear influences of minimalism, baroque and electronic music. 

The icelandic composer who has been influenced by the texts of Ovid’s ‘Metamorphosis’ enabling the album to be a haunted and atmospheric journey. 

Inspired by film composers such as Bernad Hermann and Ennio Morricone, Johann states, ‘Making Orphée has been a true labour of love, one that has been a part of my life for six years, and yet the music always remained fresh – it was constantly in a state of flux and renewal.’
