Influences: Zenker Brothers

This came out in 95 on R&S. It’s a fantastic diverse album. I listened to this in many different situations and it never gets boring. A true timeless masterpiece, which was created more than 20 years ago. Nothing but respect for this great work. 

I got this album last year and have been listening to it since than. It’s a very dope example of mixing Hip Hop beats with electronic elements and synthesizers. It makes totally sense as a whole and it has a very personal and emotional sound. This track is magical and the title fits perfectly. Pure love vibes in the air. 

The Notwist is a Bavarian band which is about as old as I am. But I discovered them rather late and only through this album which I bought at Optimal record store in Munich while Dario was working there. Super relaxed music with a lovely atmosphere and perfect to chill out. 

When I started going out and Dario introduced me to proper dance music Ricardo was one of the most inspiring artists for me. An incredible producer who created his totally own sound. I don’t listen to it very often anymore, but i used to listen to it all the time and it still means a lot to me. His tracks really explore sound and take you on a heavy trip. 

Skateboarding is a big inspiration for me. It’s much more than a sport and in many ways it’s very similar to making music. It’s about dedication, hard work and finding your own style. This is the story of one of the best skateboarders in the world. Guy Mariano was really talented as a kid and then his life went to pretty dark places, but he fought his way back to the top and became a very humble and inspiring person. 

This album is one of my all time favorite rap LP’s. When this came out in 1994 it totally stood out from most of the other records at that time. It has a very unique funk and flow, and i always discovered more hooks and details while listening to it. This album really inspired me over the years and still does, i love the fact that always when i hear stuff i grew up with, i remember my child hood and good times with friends.

When i was working at the Optimal Record store in Munich, i heard this LP called Out Of The Cool from The Gil Evans Orchestra for the first time and directly bought it. I never was into jazz music until i started watching movies from Woody Allen around probably 10 years ago, and since then i am little fan. Jazz music is kind of a lifetime soundtrack, as you can hear it in every situation while cooking, reading, cleaning the house or hanging out with friends. This LP is very cinematic and quite psychedelic and a big inspiration for me in terms of breaking out of musical rules and structures.

I never really was into “guitar“ music if you can call it like that, as i grew up with mostly rap music. Sting is a genius obviously, and the music from The Police always touched me in a very special way. For me they were ahead of their time, and their music is full of positive vibes, so always when i listen to it i get into a good and funky mood.
This track actually nails a really present theme, as most of the people are over saturated with information in their brains through their daily social media internet dose.

When it comes to Techno music, this guy is one of my biggest influences and inspirations since i started making music myself. Almost nobody managed to put that vibes and atmospheres into pumping tracks like he did, a true master of ambiance and diversity. He was at the forefront of the german techno wave in the 90’s and early 00’s, and Kanzleramt was one of the key labels back then with a real „Berlin“ signature sound. I still really love and play that stuff, it’s quite timeless.

Besides music i am really influenced and inspired by food and cooking. When i am at home i cook for myself every day, and i spend a lot of money for buying just the best ingredients i can get. Cooking is very similar as making music in terms of being creative, you just take the best possible elements and mix them until you have the best possible result. I really love this series from Anthony Bourdain, and i could watch documentaries about food for hours and hours without getting boring.
