Grace Jones Eighties New Wave Album ‘Warm Leatherette’ Re-Issued
Grace Jones' 'Warm Leatherette', the first of the Compass Point trilogy of albums is to get an extensive and comprehensive repackaging. Originally released on Island in May 1980, out went the show tunes of Jones’ previous albums, and in came contemporaneous new wave, with covers of The Normal, The Pretenders and Roxy Music all given the Grace makeover. Recorded in Nassau with a band including Sly & Robbie and Wally Badarou, it was a leap into the unknown as the 70s and disco were over, and Grace encapsulated and trademarked the 80s with her fashion stylings and ambiguous sexuality. Amongst the 32 fully remastered tracks in the package are b-sides, rare and unreleased in-era mixes, including Francois K's mix of 'Warm Leatherette' and Grace's version of Joy Division's 'She's Lost Control'.
Grace Jones – Warm Leatherette is reissued by Island/ UMG on 17th June 2016 and can be pre-ordered HERE.
