Tim Burton Confirms Beetlejuice 2 Is Happening

Art & Culture

Beetlejuice remains as high point in Tim Burton's career. Made some three decades ago, the director has spent the intervening years retreading it's mix of fantasy, horror and the freakishness of suburbia with mixed results. Michael Keaton's anarchic turn as the titular undead sex pest is a performance to treasure – and one that Burton's later collaborator Johny Depp is yet to match.

Rumours have been doing the rounds of a sequel to the film – original heroine Winona Ryder suggested that something was in the works last year – but now Burton has confirmed that not only is production getting under way, but that Ryder and Keaton are both back on board. Speaking to website ShowBizSpy, the director had the following to say:

"The film is a go and has been approved by the Warner Bros. team, we have talked with the cast members we wanted for the film and they are all on board, this includes both Winona and Michael. We have the script in hand everything is in place all we need to do now is get ready to start filming."
