Quincy Vidal Announces Album On Styles Upon Styles
Here at Ransom Note we have a bit of a soft spot for deep and funky hip hop in the mould of Digable Planets and A Tribe Called Quest. So when Brooklyn pair Quincy Vidal came to our attention we sat up and took notice. Comprising of MC Le’Asha Julius and MC/producer Caleb "CE" Eberhardt, the duo have been continuing this tradition with some flair, steadily building a reputation since forming in 2009 which has led to them opening for Kendrick Lamar (T.D.E.) and Talib Kweli.
April 1st sees the release of their fourth record, the EP 'Chi'ren' (their first on record label Styles Upon Styles – also known for releasing rising soul star Gabriel Garzon-Montano – who we interviewed last year) designed to reflect "day-in-the-life odysseys through a fiercely modern take on Golden Age hip hop."
Styles Upon Styles have just made available a limited edition hoodie that includes an early download of 'Chi'ren'. See here for more details
