Jimi Tenor – Influences
Finnish musician has teamed up with UMO, who we're told are "the Finnish "national" Jazz Orchestra", to put together a selection of contemporary jazz sounds that are substantially more mystical than you could ever have imagined. The album, entitled Mysterium Magnum, sees Jimi play a Russian synthesizer Ritm-2, tenor saxophone and flute – not your average batch of instruments by any means. To celebrate the release, we asked Jimi to talk us through some of the sounds that he's found the most inspirational throughout his years as a music-maker.
Jimi Tenor & UMO's Mysterium Magnum is out on 4th September via Herakles Records.
Maybe my favourite film of all time, The Wicker Man has incredibly good music by Paul Giovanni. The Wicker Man could actually be called a musical, it has so much music. Here’s a song called Corn Rigs.
