Dave Angel – 8 Tracks Of Uk Techno

Dave Angel is a key part of the UK techno scene, a pioneer who's been pushing the sound for over 20 years. The son of a Jazz musician and elder brother to British hip-hop artist Monie Love, Angel first came to prominance when he bootlegged the Eurythmics Sweet Dreams, toughening it with house kicks and a new bassline- Annie Lennox wanted to have all copies of the white label Angel produced destroyed, whilst Dave Stewart saw the potential in the remix, and insisted it should have an official release. Angel's version broke into the top 40, and he was away.
Now regarded as one of the corner stones of UK techno, we asked Dave to takes us on a tour through his greatest influences that, in his own words, 'are in no particular order, because they're all top drawer.' The results are 8 tracks of genius…
Dave is giving a track away for Christmas – if you want it sent to you (of coure you do!) you need to sign up to his newsletter over here. Otherwise you can keep up with what Angel's up to on his facebook or twitter
The first time I heard “Chime” I knew this was going to be an iconic piece of music, not so much the energy – but the sounds used and the way they were put together were second to none, I consider this to be a UK classic.
